Titles Count

Among all the different areas of interest when it comes to on page seo, the title tag on a page is one of the most important. Not only is this tag displayed to your visitors on the title bar of their web browser, but this is also used and displayed in Google search results. The title of your posts on blogs or pages on a website are very important and should always be keyword rich and also an accurate description of the content to follow. The relationship between the title and the rest of the information shared on the page is important to creating "relevancy" to search engines.

Choosing titles that are "interesting" and include valid key words can really boost your contents readability and help the search engines understand what your pages should be getting found for in results pages.  Taking time to find hot button keywords and refining your content to compliment your title is a great way to get the most out of each piece of content you create.

H1 and H2 Tags

The <H1> and <H2> tags are used to make text larger and more emphasized on page.  These same tags are taken into consideration by the search engines to find the most important text on page. These tags should only be used correctly and sparingly.  You should never stuff keywords or over use these tags in attempt to gain a better on page score.  The top search engines are only looking for natural and logical hierarchies and if you attempt to trick the search engines, you will most likely only hurt your page ranking.

If you use popular CMS (Content Management System) apps like Wordpress, the title of each post is almost always automatically wrapped with a <H2> tag so you don't have to worry about adding this and the <H1> is normally used for the title of the page in the header block. This is one major advantage of using Wordpress or other similar CMS scripts, because part of the work is done automatically for you.

Create Natural Content

If you are writing for the search engines, you are missing the point.  In the past search engines were easily tricked and yes, you could stuff keywords all over and your page would get picked up eventually. However, "times they are a changin" and if you want the top search engines to really take notice to what you are writing, make sure that you are writing for the reader.  If you keep the reader in mind when you write content for your website the flow of information will come out just find and your keywords will surely find their way in there too.

After all, what use is a page that every other word is "make money" or "iPhone" really?  If you are going to plan on the readers taking action, like buying something or joining your newsletter you need natural flowing content that speaks to them.  Even if you get a lot of visitors, if the content is crap when they get to your site, this is simply unacceptable. You really do want to sprinkle keywords as you write, but 2%-3% keyword density is plenty to get the results you are after.  The only thing to keep in mind if you have a large article or body of content is that google views your page in 3 sections: Top | Middle | Bottom so you will want to make sure that you are putting something in each that has to do with the same topic.

New: recently Google has taken into consideration "slang" terms in niche. Don't feel like you always have to use proper English any more.  If you are talking about baseball, poker or any other topic that their are words that are not in the dictionary, but are commonly used, feel free to do so without penalization!

These are good tips. I'd also like to add to the point of creating natural content that over-stuffing keywords will also get your page penalized for the search engines. So not only will it be counter-productive for your conversion rate as you mentioned, but it will also actually hurt your SEO.

Very good point. I appreciate you reading the start of a "going to be huge" hub. I look forward to any and all other feedback. I already have about 5 more points that I need to write up and add, but another seo secret.....refreshing content makes google happy too. I figured that this is one rule that you must practice what you preach :-)

Thank "FindYourSearch" I will take a look at your goods soon.

good hub, I am curious to see where you got the information about slang terms because I have always been under the assumption that content quality plays a big part on how Google and other search engines give credit to posts/pages/sites/content..
